Hi everybody,

We know that 40% of the variation in population risk for depression is due to genetics (i.e., genetics is a major risk factor).  But it has been very difficult to find the specific genes involved.  Here’s an article that discusses the search:

Genetics of depression: Could a test have prevented the Germanwings catastrophe?

Ah, if it were only so easy to (as Steve Pinker once said in his terrific book “How the Mind Works”) “tell your genes to jump in the lake.”  Sometimes, there’s just no talking back to those damn genes--especially if we can't find them!
