There is quite a big story in the UK at the moment about a musician who has had to fight to publish an account of sexual abuse he experienced as a child.  The story itself is quite remarkable, as is the fight he's had to get it into print and finally be heard.  It focuses on years of rape he endured as a schoolboy so quite horrific and obviously may trigger (the article itself is more about the fight he's had to get the book published but there is a mention of what happened to him years before) and I know that description he gives of being silenced will resonate with so many on here.

Anyway - he seems to be quite a remarkable man and I found the article very interesting so thought I would share:

Hi Tupp,

A horror story on all counts, and a classic example of voicelessness.  Thank you for posting it!

Thanks so much for posting this - I saw a headline once about this but never made it to reading the article.

So happy for that Rhodes is able to tell his story and how he talks about the difference in how his life cycled from dysfunctional to functional (happy/coping) to dysfunctional again (depressed/harming or mentally ill - which is terminology I dont agree with in his case)  when battling the legal cases. Never underestimate the need to be heard and accepted...

Its interesting that voicelessness can be institutional as much as inter-personal or professional.
