Perfectionism

[for Lighter...but also everybody]

Hey Lighter,
I ran across this and it hit me how you'd love it, I think.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kintsugi

(Not that I'd encourage anybody to COLLECT anything, of course!)

But it's such a lovely lovely thing.

(I wonder if Sea Storm knows all about this...and speaking of her, miss you, Sea!)

Hugs

Thanks, Hops.  That is so touching to think of brokeness, and the process of repair, as beautiful enhancement, and not something to hide.

The book I ordered is called THE GIFTS OF IMPERFECTION: Let go of who you think you're supposed to be and embrace who you are
by Brene Brown is actual name of the book.   I thought it was THE GIFT OF IMPERFECTION but I was wrong.

It's on the way: )

Has the book inspired any, Lighter?

(Sending you mental snapshot of my combo home office/guest room, in which I've been marooned with dog during repair of BR wall. Picture: lovely cherry desk, file credenza, bookshelf. Antique 3/4 bed. Nice art. Add: piles of un-filed papers, stacks of books, computer buried in closet, armchair buried under boxes of personal stuff brought home from the two last jobs, big bins of things under the bed unsorted from the move four years ago, family papers etc--closet jammed to ceiling with misc. linens and a spare file cabinet. Mostly....clutter, clutter, stupid little nibbly paperish bits. UNDER all this, is a lovely serene writing room. And I've put it off too long.)

I think ADD makes sorting/purging, particularly anything with print on it, super difficult for me. It's like the rabbit holes of the Internet, only 3-D.

Hops:
I believe the book is in a pile of packages at the front door, not yet opened.  Since dd14 is experiencing very strong anxiety over 'doing everything perfectly" with our planned Halloween House or Trail I'll try to include her in the read.

DD15 seemed to value the book very much, though she didn't want to discuss it till I've read it too.

About your office.... I wish I could spend 10 hours there with you..... taking things out of your hands, and moving you on with the task of sorting, editing, and clearing out..... creating clear, sunny, sacred space to write in.

I'm so much better at doing it for others.  Doing it with my own emotionally charged stuff.... much different.

It helps me to have someone there to pluck things out of my arms, and set me back on task..... truly all the difference in the world.

::sending you energy, focus, and determination to get your writing room cleared out::

It would be good if you could find a friend/neighbor with wonderful organization skills who needs some of your creative/writing skills wouldn't it?

Life is so much better when we can DO what we're wonderful at, and allow others to DO what they're wonderful at, IME.

Me too! I actually have an inner, logical, file/subfile organizing gene that's wonderfully activated by other people's chaos. Love to step right up and sort, make order.

For myself? Just as you said. But I'll take your encouraging support dream as motivation for setting a timer and grinding at it a bit each weekend day...or I hope I will!

thanks

OK... I found the book.

I've started reading, which feels right and good and better than tackling papers, and setting up paper flow systems.

::nod::

On the whole, I think the book might hold revelations/ connect some important timely dots.
