Music in recovery
Anonymous:
Music is really what expresses what one can't say...
I write heaps of my own music - and here's lyrics to one of my songs:
Don't know what the title is
[verse 1]
A crazy world where there is right and wrong
With only One who can mend
This aching heart, what's going on?
So I write this song, with no end...
[pre-chorus]
And as thoughts drift away
I'm asking what now?
Looking straight at you
And hoping, somehow...
[chorus]
Don't fear what you feel
You know that it's real, don't you
You can love, but trust in Me
'Cos it will last for eternity
[verse2]
When we met, you changed my life
An amazing night, that's for sure
And as we grew, it just felt so right
Didn't think twice, but wanted more
And as hope drifts away
I'm going crazy
Looking straight at you
And thinking...maybe...
[chorus]
Don't fear what you feel
I know that it's real for you
You can love, but trust in Me
'Cos maybe it's not meant to be
Love may not come back to me
But it will last...for eternity...

To Guest above: thanks for sharing your lyrics. :) :) Do these lyrics go with a particular instrument?
Anonymous:

The people I have played the song to enjoy it and everyone can relate to it in whatever way the feel...
Wish I could make the song heard to you guys somehow!
Dawning:

Ah, yes, music! As I was recovering from living with a N, I bought one or two CDs everytime I felt myself spiraling downward. I couldn't wait to get home to listen to the new music. Now I have a wonderful collection and continue to add to it, getting to know more and more wonderful music. What a difference it made, and is still making.
Mahler is truly wonderful and gorgeous, even the melancholy parts. Also, Dvorak. Glorious and uplifting music, try his 7th and 9th symphonies especially. Also his Slavonic Dances and, by all means, his Cello Concerto.
And treat yourself to a couple of adagio collections. Some of these areabout as hauntingly beautiful - peaceful too - as any music.
And, go on from there.
