Its on our daughters chore list. She loads and unloads the dishwasher because I never do it right. I rinse them off because she can't stand the gunk. Mudpuppys are used to gunk. Its a division of labor. And not just on holidays.

Normally, around the holidays, I can plan myself around a holiday (meaning, I can come up with some diversion to take my mind off the holiday).

Christmas, I enjoy part of the day with friends, and part of the day just by myself seeing what I can cook up in the kitchen.  Same with Thanksgiving.

But Mother's Day. . .with the mom, I had, it's a brutal day.  This year I decided that no matter what I would do, she wouldn't like.  So I decided to NOT do anyything.  It would actually give her something to legitimate to complain about - heck, why not try it one year.  If I were to go out to dinner, it's filled with families celebrating their wonderful mothers.  If I go to church, they're always talking about wonderful mothers.  So it's a day to endure.

But - the day is over for this year.  Only have her birthday to look forward to in July now. . .

Hi cat,

Was there a reaction to you skipping Mother's Day this year?
