Hey Bones,
At the quite-burned-out daily exhausted caregiver of an elderly mother who does not have Alzheimer's, I'd say also that your gf is likely very fortunate to remember what day it is.

That does explain a lot, if she has most of the burden.

It can be like having a 150-pound two-year-old, when you're not a young vigorous mother yourself.

So I'd keep that in mind before you get too peeved at her. Maybe she needs more help. She might be simply exhausted. It's a very draining role.

I've gotten so tired from the strain of caring for NNom at times I've had memory lapses myself from the stress.

Just a thought...

I do pitch in and help out with Mom, especially when the homecare nurse is unavailable for the day.  My friend has had the habit of doing this kind of behavior for years WAY before her mother was diagnosed which is why I have been peeved about this before.  I do get tired of explaining the obvious repeatedly for over 30 years.  After that, my patience is gone.
