What it takes
« on: October 15, 2006, 01:18:57 PM »
I remember years ago someone saying to me 'you have to do what creates a meaningful life for you- carry your pack & stool up the foothills of the Himalayas if that's what it takes!'

It came to me today how many levels this happens on and how so often I am focussing to much on one level and tuning out the others.

It's not a big romance or career or baby that will fulfill me but all the little projects and relationships which compliment my butterfly mind and allow me to express creatively and fluidly who I was, who I am and who I will be.

We did a new hymn this a.m. I just love. It's only got one verse, and we repeated it with harmony:

How could anyone tell you that you are not beautiful
How could anyone tell you that you are not whole
How could anyone tell you that you are not wonderful
You are such a part of my soul

So glad you asked, October, since I quoted it all wrong this morning. It's by Libby Roderick...was written in 1988 and first recorded in 1990.

How could anyone ever tell you--
you were anything less than beautiful?
How could anyone ever tell you--
    you were less than whole?
How could anyone fail to notice--
that your loving is a miracle?
How deeply you're connected to my soul.

It's from our UU songbook, Singing the Journey, which is a new supplement to the UU hymnal, called Singing the Living Tradition. (The tune's lovely, really lovely, great for harmonizing.)

And the words...they do the job!

love,
Hops
