how it works

For a schizophrenic person, they sense the confusion of the inner and outer self, so they totally abandon any type of outer reality, resulting in delusional thinking.

For a narcissist, they avoid confusion between inner and outer selves, by dissociating from their inner self, and relying solely on their outer "image" they portray.  This enables them to ignore inner feelings and keeping them from becoming conscious or fully conscious, yet they are aware of the outside world enough to dwell in it and exist.

People are considered narcissistic, not because they become famous and well-liked, wealthy, etc...but it's when that fame becomes their sole IDENTITY and they cease being their personal selves, based on who they are inside...the sum of their feelings, etc.
