Really down today
« on: February 03, 2007, 12:27:21 PM »
After reading so many messages here about moms & dads who are Ns, I decided to buy the book "Children of the Self-Absorbed". I wondered if I have had so many Ns in my life because it was a familiar pattern to me from childhood. Sadly, it seems I was right. Both my parents qualify - are highly qualified. So I must have been choosing my parents all over again. Plus, I am really down right now 'cuz I haven't been able to get a job. It's a long story, but I had an N attorney who screwed me over 6 ways to Sunday and now no one in my profession wants to touch me with a ten foot pole. I am looking into suing him, but the upfront money is more than I can handle - which I'm sure he was counting on. I just feel so hopeless that there's no recourse for me. I don't want to sound pitiful, but this is a lot all at once - kicking out my XN, not being able to get a job, and now the dismal outlook for recourse against the N lawyer. geez ... :(

Hold your chin up, hld your head high. Life will get better I promise. I find listening to music to be an excellent escape. The other night I was worrying about my life to the point of getting furious. So I searched music videos on you tube all night, I listened to old metallica songs, thats the stuff I listened to in highschool. That made me remember a time when everything was simple. That really worked for me. Hold your head up though, don't let this get the best of you, you have much more to offer, I promise.About the job situation, have you considered relocating?

Thanks, Thatoneguyoo. Yes, I have considered relocating, which I just did. Didn't help on the job front.

Can't find an attorney who will take it on contingency?
If it's malpractice and he's got malpractice insurance I would think you could find someone to take it on contingency.
There are some lawyers who specialize in malpractice suits against other attornies. Needless to say they are not invited to a lot of local bar association functions.

Hi towrite

what mud said. It bears repeating.

This is how lawyers find themselves disbarred. Wouldn't that be nice!

Edit in: speaking of which, you do know that you can also contact the Bar Association and file a formal complaint? Doesn't cost a dime.
