Anybody know anything about dream analysis?
« on: June 24, 2007, 06:48:24 PM »
I've had numerous dreams in the past few months where I basically tell my parents they are self absorbed PIA's and where they can go.   I know Freud said dreams are wish fulfillment.  I like to believe the dreams are the result of becoming conscious of the emotional enmeshment in an N-ish environment.

Anybody else have this type of dream as they explore their past?

Why can't I have fun dreams like some other people seem to have :D  I end up back in the FOO even in my sleep.

you probably do have fun dreams, you just don't remember them when you wake up, darn it.

I had a totally wacked out dream last night, full of all sorts of weird symbolic stuff, and it was because of reading that book by Martha Stout.

I'm with Jung about dreams, I think that they're the way our subconscious mind tries to tell us what's really going on in our lives.

I agree Storm. Dreams are really trying to help us if we can decipher the symbollism.  I dreamt that my X was involved in some kind of a cult. They were dressed in costumes like medieval monks. I realized there was no point in trying to talk to him because he was so wrapped up in this groupthink organization. As i watched him I reallzed that there was no core personality left. He was programmed. I just observed and walked away.

I think this dream was very helpful. After this I felt quite detached from him. I was not interested in trying to get him away from this even though it looked like trouble. I just thought , "How silly" and " Boy, I would not want to be doing that. I guess I didn't know him very well"

On the other hand it could be a warning from my subconscious telling me that I should beware of cults. I joined Al Anon and went to church. I found them helpful and I have been wanting a sense of community.
Maybe the dream was both interpretations.

Sea--- that dream about the cult -- how you analyzed it  was mind blowing.
I think that if you give dreams  a little effort you will be really rewarded.
I will post tomorrow about this as I am too tired to write now               Love   Ami
