My friend's N ex has ADHD she thinks, he has trouble concentrating but refuses to accept he has it.
The side-effects of ritalin are like any stimulant: weight loss, anxiety, occasionally paranoia or depression. But it is pretty widely used and tolerated by most people.
Opponents of the drug say it is as problematic as methamphetamine or cocaine and causes drug dependence.
I'd say depends how severe the ADHD symptoms are, whether they warrant medicating.
My friend's ex doesn't take anything and though he's pretty obnoxious he holds down a responsible job and is married with kids.
I imagine some of the symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder are similar in manifestation to ADHD:
inattentiveness, doesn't listen, avoids/refuses to do things doesn't like doing, forgetful, doesn't take care of things, doesn't appear to care etc.
