Ho, Ho, Ho----NPD hits the movies
« on: November 09, 2007, 09:48:41 PM »
For a "lighthearted" look at NPD in the movies, you might want to check out the new release, "Fred Clause".  Just took my niece to see it and it touches on how parents play favorites with two sons.  Santa Clause of course is the "saint" of the family and his brother Fred is the black sheep who can never please or get attention from the parents.  There's even a part on the movie that features a group therapy session of "Siblings Anonymous" complete with the brothers of President Clinton, Sylvester Stallone and Alec Baldwin lamenting what it's like to be in a family with their favored siblings.

I can't seem to get away from it!  LOL....But a cute movie nonetheless....

Actually, Sun..... I'm a little disturbed by all the N type behaviors I see all over the place, entertainment included.

When "No Country for Old Men" comes out..... that'll be screaming NPD, no doubt.  Great book, though the ending didn't keep pace with the rest of the book, IMO. Cormac McCarthy is a powerful writer.... the book was frightening.  I bet the movie's terrifying.

I certainly seem to be more aware of N behaviors.... entertainment included.

I guess I ENJOY seeing movies about N's at times, because I'm no longer in a place of being controlled by any.  For anyone still stuck with an N in a controlling situation, I can see that the movies might only serve to invalidate further.

One of the ones I enjoyed was THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA!  Even the queen in Princess Diaries, played by Julie Andrews, was a bit full of herself and her image.  Long live the cinema, i say !
