My smallest Boo has the creeping crud, older sib getting it too
« on: December 03, 2007, 11:30:20 AM »
She came back home Friday night coughing, a little snotty.

Later that evening she was feverish and her lungs were full of sticky stuff, voice all distorted from the crud.

Sat, the next day, was very feverish but the lung ick gets better in the day.

Sunday her fever was lower but she had loose a loose bm then vomited up a bunch of phlem from all the coughing.

Today..... her fever's gone and I hope she'll be well enough to go back to school tomorrow.

::sigh::

My older child has a runny nose now lung gunk too.  Keeping her home today though her temp is only slightly elevated.

What it is it about the temp change that makes this cold and flu season?  I guess this is the real influenza?

We had very warm weather lately.

I think we're in for lots more creeping crud.

I'm used to my oldest having asthma though she seems have outgrown it.

Makes me fearful that the wee one might be growing into a gooey lung version, which my niece has.

I'm only familiar with the one that constricts breathing passages so the breathing comes in short little hard breaths out (where the stomach muscles contract violently in order to force the air.)  The hollow in her throat would suck in alarmingly too.

So frightening to see your child struggle to breath.... eyes rolling back in her little head.

Sorry about your stomach flu.  I had it too, but an entire days worth of food was involved. ::shudder::

Coffee Ice cream and peanut butter will never be the same.

Hi Lighter-

Sorry the babies are suffering. I have read that the change in humidity is a major culprit, drying out the protective layers in sinuses , etc. The ambient humidity is often lower, and even in the rain, the heating systems are drying out the air. We also tend to become herded together indoors during the cold, which predisposes one to coming in contact witheach other's bugs. But who really knows about the common cold and flu?

I hope that everyone can get comfy and gets a good night's sleep (very healing)

Love to All,

Changing

Hello Lighter-

What our Hoppy said is true- the descriptions of mucous are like the Eskimos' descriptions of snow, with vast vocabularies descibing every nuance!!!! In addition, I just read something about flu season- it seems that the dryness and cold provide the perfect medium for longevity of the nasty bugs- in humid hot climes flu is allegedly less prevalent.

So break out the vaporizer, the Neti pot and the sauna!!!

Hopew everyone is better by the morning.

Love,

Changing

Thanks for the info, Changing.

And Hops..... thanks for suggesting the neti pot.  Absolutely brilliant vessel for filling my iron!

Everyone slept well last night and going to school..... I'll be at the dentist, sell'in smokes.

Mucous.... mucous..... I haven't even begun to describe the many nuances of mucous; )  But since you brought it up
