This film is one of the best of it's genre- well written, well acted, well cast- even the legal bits are well done. I  hope that all of us can support each other in preventing violence in our society and world.

Thank you Changing,

I shall have a google and read further about this film.

"Provocation"  interesting, indeed.

Hi Leah-

I stupidly wrote "Provocation" and the name of the film is actually "Provoked"- sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused. Many British actors that I enjoy are in this film, including Phil from Eastenders!

My Crim class delved into the provocation defense quite deeply and I think that may be the source of my mishap!

Love and Happy New Year,

Changing

Hi Changing,

I remember the case all too well, harrowing indeed.

As a DV awareness/campaigner, my heart cries out for the victims of 'honor killings' of which there are still many each year, here in the uk.

Are you aware of the Sharia Law Culture?

Love, Leah

Hi Leah-

Yes I have read about the hnor killings and forced marriages, etc, and it seems so difficult to protect women and girls even in European countries via European means when they live in communities which are so tightly controlled by forces which seek to establish laws and customs that violate individual rights. In America there is much debate about formally including cultural differences as legal defenses (albeit most often imperfect defenses rather than complete defenses) under the law- which have in the past resulted in women from different cultures being murdered by their husbands and the men being acquitted based upon the injury their dignity, etc., in terms of their culture...
It seems to me that all people should be afforded safety and security from violence being justified by the State or the culture. Human trafficking and slavery have become a pestilence that grows worse daily, and I believe that they are directly tied to social inequality and violence.
We must do all that we can.

Love,

Changing
