New Year's Day in Ontario~~~
« on: January 01, 2008, 04:13:54 PM »
Hello all

It has become a custom for my 4 siblings to get together on New Year's Day, regardless, and then after they have finished "dinner at lunchtime", they telephone me and I talk with each one, so at 2:30 there, it was 11:30 here and everyone was at my brother's house.

He called me and I learned my eldest sister didn't make it because of a snow storm, then there were 3, then when my younger sister and I were finishing up, she asked if I wanted to speak to N sister, I said, "Not Really, but....." , then she asked N sister and I heard her say "No,!" so we were not forced into anything by the others and we know where we stand.

and now I am doing my laundry.

There is not much to say to a post like this, but the N sister learned when I was very little that she could beat me, manipulate me, order me around, set up the scene for ridicule from the others, etc. and our later history is mainly between us.  It came to fruition via email very early this year.

It's nice to know where one stands, and I am okay with it as it is NC on both sides.

Izzy

EDIT} She is the one who had my daughter for 2 days after my accident and spanked her --a 5 yr old missing her mommy-- for crying. I can now see that I cannot see her being comforting, rocking and talking!

Happy New Year Izzy!!!!

Oh I love to read how you handle yourself in any situation!!! No recriminations, just a realistic understanding and a civil, respectful (including self-respectful) and just method of dealing with things- pleasant and unpleasant!!! Live and let live, do what good you can- this is often so hard for me to do with the grace that you so naturally exhibit- I get tangled in emotion, and lose my perspective. Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher- by example, parable, allusion and Socratic method- I love to learn from you!

Happy New Years Day !!!!

The awful childhood your sister shared with you.... stops me from wishing her a good stout slap in the face for spanking a terrorized 5 yo.

I guess she identified with your father.... and she felt safer victimizing you?

Very sad and 'm glad you feel understood and able to just release it..... go NC and be left to that peace.

Happy New Year, Izzy..... it's 2008!  A nice round even number, lol.

Hello Izzy,

So glad that you are in NC with your sister, who is as she has chosen to be.

You are a remarkable graceful lady of whom one can turn to for straight honest advice.

In essence, you are a gem.

Happy New Year, dear Izzy,

People who've never received comfort often don't know how to offer it...  and yet, some do find a way.

Mostly, I just think that for some folks, there simply is no excuse. Reasons and rationalizations, but no excuse.

Love to you,
Carolyn

Happy New Year to you too. How is your leg doing on 2008? Hope that it is better. Still swollen?

God bless you Izzy.

Thanks for asking , Lupita

The Dr. gave my leg a year, awful, eh? for the swelling to be completely gone. All appears fine with it and the swelling is down each morning and up by bedtime.

As long as the swelling is reasonably down for when I wear clamdiggers in warmer weather.

Happy New Year to you too,

Love

Lupita

From just below the knees down \  / at an angle I can feel no paiin, heat, cold but can feel touch. I hear bones break, don't feel them, but I'm sure the pain I don't feel still affects me, in some way, while healing.

It's the best way to go, lighter

Just laugh and no complaining, here

The nurse just looks at the sore on my heal, and this time only measured it--no picture.

oh and Lupita

Also I cannot move my ankles. When driving  I use my hip to guide the pressure of my right foot on the accelerator and use the hand brake.

I was back-tracking to another post and stopped here. I had a flash. I hadn't replied and remembered that I hadn't expected replies

to changing Thank you for your kind words to me, and for"I love to learn from you!". I wonder really how that would
turn out? Well the computer part would be okay, if I showed up at your door!

Lighter for this "The awful childhood your sister shared with you.... stops me from wishing her a good stout slap in the    face for spanking a terrorized 5 yo" I try to remember that a Ns and Ps were once little abused children and can be more sympathetic with the ones I don't know, the ones who haven't affected me, but then they have affected their families. Then I am in a circle.

Leah for this "whom one can turn to for straight honest advice." I thank you and I sure hope I never lead anyone astray

and Hope for"People who've never received comfort often don't know how to offer it" which reminds me about anything we've never had, known about or experienced, might be beyone many of us. That's me

Thank you  ladies

Circular and I'm sure there's some Zen lesson in it for us :?

I just wish it was easier to what it is.
