Axa's to Do list by popular request!!!!!
« on: February 06, 2008, 11:36:38 AM »
Ok, here goes, last one was effective so hopefully this one will do the trick also.

join a gym (and attend three times a week)

Learn to ice skate without a look of terror on my face

Do a daily act of kindness to others (just a tiny thing will count)

Make a series of drawings (and shut up that old internal critic)

Join a hill walking club

Go to my meditation group three times a week( recommend this for anxiety issues - it works for me)

Seek out some way of regular loud laughing(all ideas welcomed)

Have a monthly dinner party (given up cooking, body suffering)

Spend time thinking thesis

Go to Italy in the summer

Will add to the list...........so anyone else for making a list

hugs

axa

Dear Axa,

Very inspiring, as usual:) Thank you!

I wish I'd made a list last year. I finished the year feeling a bit `blah', like I hadn't really set any goals and therefore couldn't relish in the accomplishment at the year's end. The business survived, and we survived, but I still felt a bit `blah' about it all.

Hello PhoenixRising - well done and what a wonderful name.

Tai chi............looks so beautiful, 108 movements sounds incredible.......would love to try it some time but careful about not taking on too much and then throwing in the towel on everything (old Pattern)

Heh Bella,

How about making a list now....... it really is so satisfying when you achieve things.  It also helps me with not discounting things I have achieved, a little old trick of mine from the past........

well done on the business.....sounds like big stuff to me.

Dear Axa,

You're right; I should try!

I get a bit blocked with my list (every year) . I think its because the top of my `to do' list is full of items which i find `scarey' and `time consuming' and `dull' . I never seem to get past those ones, to the ones I consider fun.

Hey maybe I should re-order my list and put some of the fun things up near the top?

Learn to ice skate without a look of terror on my face

I can help with the ice skating lessons. I used to coach and be a professional ice skater.

Here are a few tips.

1. Make sure your skates have good ankle support and the blades are sharp.

2. Keep your arms steady. Keep them in front of you reached out straight like they are resting on a table. This is so that your weight is forward and not backward (at least one reason).

3. Keep your knees slightly bent.

4. Keep your toes pointed outward -- like a duck.

5. pick your feet up and march for the first 100 steps. I guarantee if you do this, by the time you have gone around once, practicing the above, you will be steady and will actually be smiling.

6. If you do feel like you are going to fall then place your hands, quickly, on your knees, it stops you from falling (sometimes).
Also, don't fight falling, the more you do the harder you are going to fall. Always try to land on your tush :D

Next week:

stopping!

Great list!

Lise

P.S. you are not going to look very graceful practicing the above but we are only talking about reaching your list goal of not skating with the look of terror on your face :D

Wow, Axa... looks like an awesome list to me!

Thank you for sharing it. And I really like what Phoenix pointed out, about your list encompassing mind, body, and spirit...  that's definitely a good balance. Whew. I, for one, need the inspiration and challenge to dare to even dream of such a list, after feeling bogged down in the "must do's" for so long. I'm thrilled for you ((((((Axa))))))) and thoroughly confident in your ability and determination to follow through!

Love to you,
Carolyn

P.S.  I like your list, too, Phoenix! Wishing you and Axa both wonderful success and great enjoyment in the accomplishment.

Dear Axa,

Thankyou for helping me with it; That type of ordering is much better than what i was doing. I think I might even break it down to month-by-month lists, to offset the fact that many of goals right now are pretty long term.

I have some writing to do!

You are total honey, Axa.

Love and hugs,
X bella

Lise: I used to skate, too. Not professionally; I was a pond skater who dreamed of being Peggy Fleming; then Dorothy Hamill. When I graduated high school ('74), I bought a pair of professional skates and only last year consigned them to Goodwill (they'd been used once; blades never sharpened). The ponds don't freeze here and the rinks are too far away (and I hate going around in circles during the public free skates). I had an opportunity to skate at a ski resort maybe 10 years ago - and found I still had most of my moves... but I REALLY needed a hot tub the next day instead of the cross-country skiing lesson!! Took me a week to rest my muscles... !!!  LOL!!!!

Hi axa -- (I hope you do not mind if I adress Amber on your thread?)

Amber -- CooooooooooooooL! Another fellow ice-skater! (we are family now :D)

I have not skated in about 2 years, I'm sure if I was to skate at this time, in my late years , I would be in need of a hot tub too :P

Thank you for sharing that.
