a note to my NM
« on: April 18, 2008, 12:07:25 PM »
MY nm has called my cell twice since I moved in. I have not returned her calls. Finally I wrote her a short note, saying that I have not returned her calls b/c I am "not feeling well" and remembered her reaction the last time we talked on the phone and I wasn't feeling well (her terminology). Don't expect it to get any kind of reaction, just wanted to take the pressure off myself of having to respond to her or take her calls. I feel better for having sent it. At least she can't say that she never heard from me.

Boy, Kate.
The NM is a continual curse.  I am sorry you are hurting. The stork sent us to the wrong house(lol)
The "normal" M ,like my Aunt, is totally different than the NM.
They are two different "species",it seems.
You are in my prayers, Kate, always.    Love    Ami

Towrite,
That sounds like a good solution to me. They tell us fibs all the time to cover for themselves. A fib for your sanity doesn't seem at all out of line.

Great idea ToWrite.

My N father loves to pretend to others that he is in touch.  He loves to call to control.  He will call 10 times in a row until you answer and then when he gets me he berates me because I didn't answer his other 10 calls.  Next time he does this, I'll send a note.

That was a very smart thing to do - you don't have to speak to her, but you get her off of your case with the email. I love email for basic contact, since it allows you to take an emotional step back from the person you're communicating with.

I don't see it as a lie, either. You won't feel well having to speak to her, so avoiding the calls makes sense.

"feeling unwell" is her euphemism for being depressed - or, actually, for having any kind of trouble in your life at all. It is so much easier to live with the constant pressure in my life without her. If I have to move to another town to get a job, I'm considering not even informing her. Let my brother be at her beck and call and see how she likes his inattention!
