Some things that make me sad….
« on: May 20, 2008, 02:06:43 PM »

….when I think back, are the beliefs or rules of my parents.

The boys we dated had to be from homes where the families went to church, and it would be humiliating for my parents if we dated someone “out of the circle”.
That was so hypocritical of them.

I was reminded of this in a email from my brother. He attended the funeral of a woman I know who was well loved.,,,in her seventies likely. He told me that, and also that Ian Johnston was there and asking about me. He had hoped I would be there. When he was in Grade 9 and I was in Grade 12, he said to my brother that he had a mad crush on me and thought I was hot stuff. I would be 15, no boobs and no period, but I remember him, always have.  How nice that he remembered me after 54 years!

I knew then that he was ‘out of the circle'. Since I was in a higher grade meant nothing as I was 2 years ahead of myself and the boys in younger grades were my age.

Just reminiscing….

I'm sorry this is bittersweet, Iz...

wouldn't it have been fun to talk to him, after all these years?? and when the "rules" just don't matter anymore?

How're ya doing otherwise?

Hey!
Does Ian Johnston have email?

Get to work, Izz...

A sweet friendship can happen at any time in life...

(Unless there's a Mrs. Ian.)

I bet it made you sad, sweetheart.
I'm sorry.

love to you,
Hops

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww PR

Bittersweet is exactly the term for this and a few other times in my times because of rules. Yes, How nice to have seen him a 68-69 year old man and the two of us recalling the sparking in the school bus during the trip home from the Royal Winter Fair, in Toronto, and my period started that night. The bus driver was my school bus driver and he was watching me,(well other couples too), and when the lights went on, meant to 'stop', and when the lights went off meant 'go spark'.
The word 'bittersweet' just rolled out many emotions, thinking about more happy times. I feel all soft and mooshy inside! Is that good?

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww and Hops

I have no idea if he has email, a Mrs. or anything. My brother just said what I already told you.
Not feeling sad but like I said to PR 'The word 'bittersweet' just rolled out many emotions, thinking about more happy times. I feel all soft and mooshy inside! '

Love ya both

Another type of sad is when Johnny Cash is leaving my mind. I hate that. I was clutching him from about age 15 until he died.  In real life maybe I would have found him to be a jerk with me, but it was nice tio have that 'fan of JC" feeling.

I play fewere and fewer of his songs and that makes me sad.

What is that? A dream never realized? To meet and talk with him and tell him about his songs and my favourites. etc.

That is a different kind of sad than from someone I really knew, someone I kissed: someone who made my heart jump, at 15.

Agreed. lighter

I liked soft and mooshy! I'm still thinking of him, at times, but then I think I never forgot!
