Encouragements
« on: September 30, 2008, 10:54:42 PM »
For these last however many months I am going to post encouragements or inspirational stories here so that I can come here and get a lift.

Tonight I am watching "Half Their Size".  It's a new show about people losing weight.  This show is about 8 heavy folks from Mississippi changing their eating habits and exercising to lose half their weight.  Mid way through they have a 5K race.  It's not easy.  After 7 of the 8 finish the race one person goes back to help April finish.  April is the rounded and the most out of shape.  She looks like she was going to die before nearing the end.  After the first racer went back another went back and then another and another until all 8 were walking together and encouraging April to finish.

That is so touching.  These people were not family.  They did not even know each other before they started the program, yet they were able to support and encourage in a way that no N family I am familiar with ever supported one of it's own.  That's what I am dreaming of.

Oh that makes me think of a flock of geese and when one falls out of line, he will be guided back by others, or if one falls to the ground another or two will go to stay with him.

That is more than I have ever known for support and it's uplifting, just to know it can happen.

I toggle between feeling uplifted and feeling overwhelmed by resentment.  The resentment is the very thing that keeps me stuck.  I choose to shift to being uplifted but there is a powerful tug from the pleasure of self-righteous resentment. It is an evil lure.
