Hi everybody,

My heart goes out to those whose lives have been shattered by recent violence here (U.S.) and abroad.  Nonetheless, for those whose lives have not been ripped apart by recent wars, shootings, stabbings, etc, here are some words of measured long-term optimism from Steve Pinker.   Steve is one of the brightest people I have ever known, so I always enjoy reading/sharing his work/thoughts.

For now, this is the best I can offer in wishing everyone happy holidays and a healthy, safe, meaningful, and “connected” new year! (And I want to add a special Hannukah shout-out to Teddy, my nephew, who is in the Israeli army, driving armored vehicles...)
