Oh, I haven't heard any of his stuff in ages, Laura... thanks so much  :D   Just what the doctor ordered!!

Three hours this morning at the dentist, but I'm all set... thank God!!! !! !  And I think I'm finally over my dreadful dental terrors.... just exhausted.... but very, very grateful and relieved.

Ami,

Mostly, I think it's because I stopped being ashamed of feeling afraid.

The shame compounded it.

So this time, I told everyone who'd listen (especially God - as though He didn't already know!) how terrified I'd always been of the doctor and dentist visits.  Confessing it, praying about it... basically just looking it straight in the eye... well, the terror evaporated.

Besides, this tooth had been broken for 2 years and lately, it hurt badly enough that it was such a huge relief to know that the pain would end... I'm just determined to not ever wait/avoid/deny this stuff again, letting anything get so bad. In the past, it's always had to become an emergency before I'd deal with it... no more!

I think I was ashamed of needing anything... needing help. To need help as a child, with my mother, was like the worst thing possible.
I always felt like I had to pretend I was okay rather than admit a problem.

You're welcome, Ami... but I wasn't way ahead at all.... this just happened, very suddenly.... by necessity, I suppose, and yet I made another appointment and there's no dread about that whatsoever.
I know it feels like a gigantic hurdle, but if you can think about what part of it exactly seems so threatening, then you can pray more specifically about that.
For me, I think it was a combination of the space invasion - having someone right in my face that way,
along with lack of control - being unable to see what exactly they're doing and pretty much unable to move.
It wasn't fear of pain at all... and there was none.
Although I do wish somebody'd invent a silent drill!

You will overcome this, Ami... I know you will.

Love,
Carolyn

Hey HOPE!

How did the whole thing go, anyway?  Were any of your fears realized?

Poppy

PS.  Silent drill....maybe not.  But what about ear plugs or Ipod?

Hey Pops,

It went really well... just soooooo long. Thankfully they use a block to prop your mouth open for all this... but still, jawbone's tired and sore.
First temp crown didn't fit right, but after awhile they got one to work... 2 weeks and I'll go back to get the permanent one put on.
I'd had a tooth extracted a couple years ago, right next to this one... but the dentist had left the roots behind! He'd told me it was this major deal, requiring an oral surgeon, because of potential involvement with the sinuses. Eeek. Well, I'd prayed and prayed... and God said He'd take care of it. Today, along with the root canal on my broken tooth, the dentist removed those old root tips. Took him 3 minutes max.
Said he'd never had an easier extraction. Interesting how prayers get answered!  :D  I'll take it!

Ipod's a great idea... but I like to hear the chit chat goin on around me, so it wasn't too bad.

Laura... I apologize for hijacking the humor... will try to think of something funny to say soon... lol.

((((((())))))))

Hey Carolyn.

I'm doing quite well.  I'm going back to my counselor again soon, since our Medicaid finally got reinstated.  My husband is putting a van on the road, so my daughter and I will have a car to drive (hoping she will not fight me about it all the time).

Pretty soon, I will be on Paltalk.com preaching some messages of various kinds, when the Lord lays them on my heart to share.  My spir mom told me "You have a need to talk talk talk, so get online, ask the Lord to give you sermons, and git talkin."

Well, hubby and I are headed to a big neighborhood yard sale up at the park, so will talk to you later...also I'm going to a deliverance ministry training today.

Love to all,
~Laur

Hi Laura  :)

That's great... so glad you have medical coverage again... and wheels!
And you know... for those of us who seem to have been designed to overflow with words... what better talks to overflow with than all about the Lord Jesus. Christian chat can be a fantastic outlet for that... as long as God is leading. I don't think I have the stamina for all that anymore.. so not quite sure yet what I'll do with my overflow. Feeling stifled at the moment, but I think it's just another phase of growing up.
For you... you've worked so hard and faced so many hurdles... I just pray God's richest blessings of joy and peace and satisfaction in whatever He guides you to do.

Much love,
Carolyn
