I'm grateful for you too, dear Tupp, and will miss you a lot.
The collision between online and real is jarring. But it's a reality.

I understand completely. And given what a soaring writer you are, I get why you have to close this door, not just for safety concerns, but for focus. It takes a lot of energy even in good times to narrate our lives online. I'm very glad our lives and stories have intertwined for so long. You'll never know how much you've taught me.

Your focus is foremost right now and I can tell what strength it takes. Bravo to you for everything.

Words fail, but I'm sending love. (Likewise, you have my email.)

Always,
Hops

Tupp, I'm sorry it was so costly to move but I hope you begin to feel safer now. It's wise to drop your online activity for a while. My cell tower was upgraded last week, and I was offline most of 2 days - in some ways, it was absolutely the best thing! I needed a break.

I wish you every good fortune in the fiber of your new location and know you know how to work your way through the obstacles you face, one at a time. I believe you'll have to have some time to regroup and adjust - and then you'll blossom vigorously again.

PS Tupp, NO expectation that you will see or reply so just fwiw:

If people will be there to renovate the other flat, I hope you might ask the landlord or the workers if while there, there is some way they can add insulation or any other weatherizing improvements to your flat. Caulking windows, for example.

Scotland winters are serious.

I have many fantasies, two of which could help:
--running an ad in a local community paper/FB page asking for quilts or blankets to "insulate the walls of our flat". In my experience, people DO like to help and welcome, so you might be amazed at what is generously donated.

--This, plastic film insulation to weatherize windows. Many how-tos on YouTube.

That's it.

Ah, this must be the thing Hops was referencing. The part about Tupp taking a maybe final break off the board.

Maybe Tupp will be back or maybe not.

Sometimes people just don't have the time or energy to keep everything going all the time so can't blame Tupp. Sounds like a weird situation. Not really sure what's going on with that. It's often the case though the worse case one's budget is in the more dangerous crap people have to cope with.

You're entirely right, Mouse -- felt no blame for Tupp at all. She's doing the right thing to keep a very difficult balance and said her online participation had to go. I appreciated her update and understand her choice.

I just had lots of feeeeels (analysed it some on another thread). And everybody went quiet except for Lighter and me who kept a chat going for quite a while. Started hearing echoes!
