CJ The X Video Essays
« on: January 04, 2022, 02:34:03 PM »
I watched CJ The X's VE about the movie Coraline, which I viewed through my personal filters dealing with ASPDs.
::Shuddering::.

I visited tender spots I didn't want to revisit....mostly around my children's exposure to toxic people and my inability to always protect them.  Ouch.  So painful.  The Beldam's screaming, raging, beating at the door, demanding Coraline return it the Beldam will due without her.....
while Coraline is trying to pull it closed, bc the Beldam is clearly a predator bent on murdering Ciraline's body, soul and everything she loves, felt just like it felt dealing with ASPDs with chicken crushed in the middle.  It made no sense for the Beldam to ask for Coraline's permission and compliance to sew buttons in Ciraline's eyes and be canabolized, body and soul in order for the Beldam to continue preying on other children, yet there the Beldam was, raging while insisting while claiming she'd die if Coraline refused making Coraline the bad guy if she refused.
I will rewatch CJ's 2.5 hour video essay on Bo Burnham vs Jeff Bezos, bc CJ speaks so fast and it's impossible to take it all in at once.

I find it's worth the focus required and it makes for good bathtub listening.

Igggh. Sounds just awful to me!

I have zero appetite for horror or supernatural flicks of any kind.
That's probably normal for anybody highly sensitive and vulnerable to anxiety.

(I had to be taken out of Darby O'Gill and the Little People when I was 8 or 9 because I was terrified of the banshee, while sturdy-minded 6-y/os didn't budge.)

But I was right, right? The world IS full of Scary. That's real.
(Kinda weird because I do enjoy spy and espionage-action flicks a lot. Hmmm. Just don't have an appetite for entertainment based on brutalization of women. But I've watched plenty of dark stuff, crime stories...I think because there's often if not always some form of justice at the end, though too late for the victims.)

I get avoidance if entertainment featuring the brutalization of women ( and children.)

Just so you know, Coraline saves herself, her parents and all 3 children trapped with buttons in their eyes.

Justice prevailed👌

Sorry, Lighter. What a killjoy I can be.

Was writing a letter in the Post the other day about something political (all of which is driving me around the bend) and described myself as a physical coward and moral scold.

I must be feeling Victorian. Been watching a lot of old British dramas based on Catherine Cookson novels. Retreating into early forms of escape...

All is well and hope it is for you, too.

No worries, Hops.

Maybe try listening to CJ The X's 2.5 hour video essay Bo Burnham vs Jeff Bezos and we can discuss it.  I have to listen to it again, maybe a third time.  Lots to take in.

Don't have the bandwidth for CJ, Lighter, but I'm glad you find him engaging and worthwhile.

Having things that engage our minds without messing with them is wonderful!
