Facing the Truth of Life
« on: October 18, 2007, 08:39:14 PM »
When i went in to denial,I lost many aspects of my life.I lost the ability to trust myself, love myself , face myself, face  my M and face  life,in general.
I lost the ability to see life(people and situations ) as they were. I was TOLD how to look at life so my M could be "powerful" and look good. I was TOLD how to feel about myself(bad)so my M could look good. I was told how to view other people(as perfect and all knowing) so my M could have HER view of reality rule the house(and she would look good,of course)
So,now I wonder,'Can I open my eyes and see life as it is?"
I want to. I used to be much better at it.
I want to have the courage to open my eyes(my OWN eyes) and to SEE(with my OWN thoughts and perceptions)
I guess that I am just stating a goal. Any opinions or experiences are very much appreciated.

Ami-

When people of different cultures look at the same scene, they see different things- their eyes and minds have been trained to look for and recognize certain objects and connections. You have been trained in a certain way from childhood, and have set about retraining yourself as well, to see things in a new way from your own perspective. No one sees everything, but I imagine that you are pretty sharp in viewing and recognizing the truth! Now, just what do we do with the truth??!!??!!??

Ami-

I just can't see Jack Nicholson saying "Ami, you can't handle the truth!"- Instead he would say, "Ami, you are awesome- your gut is amazing!!!"

Power is also a good thing when it means we are tapped into our true self - our own thoughts and feelings, and when we cannot be influenced by garbage and trash any longer.[

 Dear Bean,
Your quote above is EXACTLY what I wanted to say but could not find the words. Your quote above IS MY GOAL-- pure and simple. That is it. Thank you for clarifying it for me.
I am on the path,NOW, to reaching for it( after you clarified it AND I" got" it.. Thanks Bean. You do seem to have a "centered" quality about you. This is why-huh?You found your own center.Life is HORRIBLE without it-- I CAN talk about that with authority.
I am going to start a thread on it.
Our 'power" IS ourselves, our thoughts, choices,  and how we handle ourselves in this world. We need to jettison ALL the garbage from our N parents that makes the "boat" sink.
Well said, Bean,. Thank you, friend                                Love    Ami
