My therapist and her husband both have N parents--
« on: June 13, 2010, 12:34:59 AM »
--and it's a fairly nice story, with which to check in....

She and I are quite close.

She has been N/C with her parents for 18 years, is now 40. S., her husband, in his 40s, is stuck with his parents about a 10 minute drive away. They drop by and never fail to put S. down...not all that often, but when they do, S. 'hits the skids' and K. gets the leftovers when her in-laws are gone. He just cannot seem to help it!

She is just SO nice, and she understands, and the other day his 'poor pity me' (taking on the load his parents leave him with) lasted for about a day and a ˝, as opposed to last summer when she first came and they were separated...only because he was trying to not burden her with his inability to deal with them. He is learning, but she doubts he will ever go N/C.

We were talking yesterday and it was so natural, as we both understood what was happening.

She said we were good for each other. She is working long hours, as right now he is awaiting a call re a resumé, and is at home, housekeeping (which leads his parents to say he is 'nothing but a peon'.....and he deflates... then ol' Maw will say how nicely he is keeping their yard and the gardens, BUT, 'it would be better if you had a job'....always that JAB, eh?

K. knows her therapy stuff, and now that I have her under contract, we do what we want, and she said if she works my right leg, the good one, then the left one, the bad one, will 'learn and compete', muscle memory/mirroring, and just yesterday after all this time, I lifted my left heel off the bed for the first time, about 6 inches, straight-legged, all alone....my right leg, while lying prone, I can lift straight up in the air...... and the Insurance Co. abandoned me because I was not making significant progress.. No patience, but now they will have to reimburse me for what I pay K.

She added stretching exercises to help with posture, elimination, balance etc.  and now my stomach doesn't feel that it is in my pubic area with all this sitting!

Good Mental Health to all
Love
