Also when the anger was too strong to be handled "only" through meditation/reading, I would go outside jogging in the woods. Feeling the nature's strength and letting go my negative energy through "violent" effort helped too.

I have been running for years, and I'm
sure I would not be the same person, hormone wise/emotionally without it.
It is just the perfect aerobic thing for me because you work with your entire body, and as you say, your can make the effort as dramatic as you want. Boy, have I lightening speed sprinted away my pain at times!
You are very lucky to be jogging in the woods! For me it is the good old track at the gym & treadmill at home.
Exercise is something I'd strongly recommend to anyone (no cyber tomatos thrown please!

) It
really helps with depressed, anxious, or angry pent up energy.
