OK, it's DD15's birthday coming up, and we're busy baking the third tier for what is intended to be a 6 layered extravaganza. We're calling it the "So many ways to go wrong" cake.
DD just ate a bite of raw cake batter on the slightly over cooked bottom of the green tea flavored layer. It was lovely. The second layer, a light almond flavor, is divine. The third layer's in the oven, and I'm ready to throw up so, not sure if I can judge that one. DD and I watch the British Baking Show, which lead to her cooking down fresh raspberries to flavor and color those tiers.
SO....I'm feeling a bit icky about eating so much cake........DD wants me to at the pink layer currently baking..... she said it looks like a squirrel blended up and baked in the pan. I think it looks like strawberries, not squirrel. It's perfectly pink. Beautiful.
Swiss meringue buttercream is planned for the icing. We have the option of using white chocolate, green tea, almond or a combination of flavors. She has real sliced almonds... maybe to decorate sides with, and fresh raspberries, and Pocky in strawberry and green tea flavors for decorating with. Last year she did blue and pink checkerboard cake that said "Nobody loves you." She's going for something really cynical.... "like boobies" she says. That's her kind of comedy. Boobie humor.
Like I said... so many ways to go wrong cake. DD loves baking beautiful cakes, then writing something completely unfortunate on them.
She intends to sleep on the flavor profiles.... "we'll wing it" she says, waving her hand aside.
We have to go to sleep now.
