Did you know you can edit a post you aleady submitted?
« on: October 20, 2003, 04:14:49 PM »
I just discovered that when you are logged on, you can change what you already wrote by clicking on the "edit" button at the top of your post even after you've submitted it.  This is great for correcting typos or putting your name when you forgot to log in for the original post!  After you are done making corrections just hit the "submit" button at the bottom again and when you return to the forum your message will appear with the corrections.  Just thought I'd share...

Hi CC - And another tip.  I've discovered if, when you log on, you don't tick the box underneath that says 'log me on every time' there's a chance that you can think you're logged on but the system has timed you out (eg if you're writing a long and thoughtful post) - so your contribution is posted as Guest - and then you can't click the edit button as only members have the editing privilege. (Rats!)

Hope that helps!

One warning about clicking that  'log me on every time' button is that family members or others using the computer also get logged in automatically which is why I don't use it.

Unfortunately that Guest thing & no edit option is a troublesome side effect.

I just discovered the preview button but I don't think that it notified me (certainly no pop up) that I was guest but maybe it does, I didn't think to check that aspect out when I previewed...not gonna log out now to test it though. I'll try to remember to do so another time. Just checked and preview didn't show my name on the previewed post. I am logged in so still don't know what it does with guests - probably the same.

I also post at the N-partners site and this one is so much more sophisticated and easy to use technically.  The other site hasn't a search function as far as I can tell and it automatically logs you in and has only a delete but no edit option.  Oh and most importantly not as many Emoticons  :D
