MUST SEE MOVIE!
« on: May 12, 2005, 12:42:58 PM »
I watched "The Shape of Things"  directed by Neil LaBute last night on DVD.

Wow! Anyone who has any involvement with an N should see this movie. Of course the story portrayed is different from my own story but there were breathtaking moments of thinking "God, I've been there!".

The film explores how an N controls, manipulates and undermines the self-esteem of her target, ultimately almost destroying him.

I think it is an excellent film. It would have been really interesting to watch it with my ex N!

I urge you all to see it.

Does it specifically use the term N?

Can you pick it up at the local movie rental store?

Thanks.

Thanks Bomaguy!

Writing that one on my list of movies I will eventually rent.

Another one is:  Muriel's Wedding....(sorry I don't know the director).
It's a weird/odd/slow/rather humourous depiction of the N-system (but it doesn't use that N-term).

Hi GFN -- Paul Whatzisname, the Australian actor who played Crocodile Dundee -- Hogan, that's it. He directed Muriel's Wedding.

Thanks for the tip, bomaguy!

N term not used

Hi Miaxo-

No, the term narcissism never comes up in the movie. But the main female lead seems to me to be an N.

Not to split hairs, but the director P.J. Hogan isn't the "shrimp on the barbie" guy. They both have the name P. Hogan. There are a LOT of movies with N's in them because they cause a lot of drama!  :D

P.S. Sideways has some major Ns in it. And it's a good movie. Thanks for the recommendation and the topic, bomaguy.

Truly weird. I'd'a sworn I read about it being the same guy, back when the film was released, but you are absolutely right - just did a check on the Net. Both of 'em named Paul Hogan, though.

Hit 50 and the memory starts going right away, I guess.  :P

I'm almost 50 and my memory is already gone. I looked this up on imdb because I could not believe that Paul Hogan had directed a movie.
