I have flu
« on: December 16, 2005, 05:20:53 PM »
I haven't had flu for over ten years, last time it developed into pneumonia because I didn't stop and rest but went walking and got caught in a blizzard. I was always sensible...!

I've had two full days in bed, had to get up this afternoon and change the soaking sheets, I have sweat so much I've dropped 7 lbs.

But it's most interesting the dreams and thoughts I've had whilst I've been ill- it's like every unresolved issue going back years came to me, but all in a place where I felt too ill to give it much thought so it was pretty objective, and most of it wasn't worth even considering.

Hope i can shed them like the dehydration!

Now back to Bengay and bed...

Sorry to hear you are not well, Write.  You are doiing the right thing by staying in bed and resting.

When you start to feel better, throw away your toothbrush. :)  Other than that, plenty of rest, plenty of water and light fruit juice, and take care of yourself.

Be as nice to yourself as you would be to someone else.  If you can.   :)

Hi Write! sorry you are so ill. Hmmm...fever dreams!!!! Always interesting fodder! Are you keeping a journal? How is your mood- not just now of course! Interestingly, this time of year, I'm usually depressed and house bound to some extent. Not this year though. I'm actually kinda hypomanic and am enjoying myself. Have to be careful not to enjoy myself TOO much though! Hope you feel better soon. Banish those viruses! Hugs Moira
I've just ended abusive relationship of 1 yr. with male narcissist. I cycle between stages of anger and grieving and have accepted it. Hope I've alienated him so he won't recontact me- is this possible?     Moira

Write,

I've had exactly the same experience when I was down with flu lasty year. Every unresolved issue that I'd pushed under the rug, filed away in cabinets labelled no big deal or I'm over it now just came back to haunt me and my normal defenses broke down. In retrospect, I was glad that it happened. It is for nothing that we get sick........

The point is not to shed it like dehydration, but to acknowledge your hurts, IMHO. You can't decide with your head what hurts you and what doesn't, it just does. I'd think of all that came up during this time as a gateway to something much bigger.

Take care of yourself and let yourself dream.

the worst is the cough-
given that I so often sing or talk for a living, and have so often spoken out about things, I always wonder if it is significant that the worst part of my health is always my voice- I develop a cough, or septic thraot, or lose my voice.
Or maybe it's just coincidence.

One thing that is weird is- ex n h is looking more and more like Jack Nicholson.

He looked a lot put out today that I could fill the dishwasher and go to collect groceries with him; he was wonderful the past two days I was bedridden, took care of everything, couldn't have been kinder.

Today he said 'when we get back don't behave weirdly in front of [ son ] you were already freaking him out...'

When we got back i said to son a joke and then are you worried about mommy? or mom's behaviour?
He said no- dad said you were being weird and probably drunk! I think you're fine.

This has all come since son decided he wants to live with me and stay with his father one or two nights a week.

I appreciate my ex feels the sense of rejection, but we have to work through it honestly not trying to do battle.

****

My toothbrush I change monthly.

Funny you guys mention teeth- it's another issue features in my dreams, I had some unresolved dental issues for ages. But apparently it also signifies AGING.

Back to bed- the sweat is pouring off me

Hi Write

So sorry to hear that you have the flu... wishing you a very speeding recovery and hope you get rid of your cough soon.  Pineapple is supposed to be good for a sore throat.  The enzymes in pineapples are supposed to kill the bacteria.  I'm not sure how true this is, but as they say nothing ventured nothing gained.

I found it fabulous to read about your son.  How delightful that he can make up his own mind and choose.  I am really happy for you both.

Take care

Hello Write:

So sorry to hear that you have the flu  :(

You are doing the best you can do.......getting plenty of bed rest.  That will help you get you strenth back.

Also, green tea (decaf) is very good, too!  If you cannot drink it straight, add lemon and honey (not sugar) and it will soothe your throat.  It really does work like an antioxidant and will aid in your recovery.

The asian culture has known this for many years!

Wishing you a full recovery,

Solayads :)

I slept all night, feeling achy but loads better.

My work gig this morning just called, where am I? Ex-h said he'd cancelled it yesterday; I do hope it's an oversight on their part...

Hey Write,
So sorry the bug got you.
But amazing how tuned in you stayed to your inner work!

Feel better soon...only good thing about getting well is the contrast.

Hugs,
