Job support? (Again...)
« on: December 21, 2005, 09:36:21 PM »
Hi all,
Just asking your thoughts and support as I found out today (officially) that my job will likely end July 1. I do have a few months' grace and will do all I can to be positive and while looking, do my best work where I am.

After my friends' loss of their son yesterday, I have it in a different perspective though.

It strikes me how often hard things happen at holiday time.

You know what I think H- you are about to discover your life's work somehow, like me. When you least expected it.

Sad things at holiday time-

the world is sad every single day for many people. Maybe we just notice more at holiday time...

I will pray for your friends, also for one of ex-h's colleagues whose brother was murdered in his convenience store last weekend, and the young people of Uganda, who are always esepcially in my thoughts http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/spl/hi/picture_gallery/05/africa_night_commuters/html/1.stm

Sorry to hear about the end of the contract but maybe it is a blessing in disguise.  I'm looking too HOppy and have set my mind on finding the perfect job for me. I'll be sending out positive vibes for you too.  Your skills will be appreciated somewhere else very soon.  It makes a big difference when you feel valued at work.  Hang in there.

Even larger perspective, Write.
this does torment me too.
My daughtter tutors boys from Sudan...my long-neglected novel is about (and has the aim of helping to stem) child abuse.

I believe the novel is my life's work, but caring for my mother and working FT has made it hard to write.

Maybe I'll take more inspiration from your name!

thanks--and thanks CeeMee, you have it simply spot on: the difference it makes to feel valued. in the meantime, I'll just have to remember to value myself and spend time on things of value instead of escapism. I do a fair amount of that at night when my back hurts--such as TV. I'm thinking of putting it out of my room and returning to writing in bed on the heating pad. Just see what happens.

Thank you both. And CeeMee I send strong vibes for you too. Can you tell me generally what kind of work you do?

Hoppy honey.... valuing yourself is so important.  Sometimes it's just little things, like having a bath when you get home.
