I am horrifed too. He sounds monstrous...and your mother sounds frantic and deaf to herself. Very sad.

Come to think of it, "secretly horrified" is right on the money about how I've felt in many moments over the years listening to NMom.

In a creepy way that's reassuring because I think it means I'm not an N!

(Well, I'm not sure I'm listening any more at all. It's more like gritting my teeth and trying not to scream while behaving politely. Is that listening?)
