Hi all,
I went to church and the sermon made sense, the choir was in excellent form and we had a great potluck. I'm going to be lay leader next time so I paid more attention. Then afterward even though it's cold, the sun's bright and I felt like going visiting.
Went and played in Mudpup's shop for a while. That shop vac is awesome. We sucked up more spiders and junk than you can imagine. We got to hollering about politics and then started laughing so hard his wife thought we were nuts. Place is clean as a whistle but he just can't wait to mess it up again. (Men.)
Then I went over to Mum's and a couple of her sisters were over and we sat around having tea and chatting and took a walk in her garden. It's amazingly beautiful. I had never seen some of those plants and the way she places them is like art. And her sisters are such nice people.
Stopped by H&H's, too. Something smelled good, I think she was baking. I could've hung out with my feet on their furniture for days. Her hubby was really sweet and he loves talking back to the TV. Felt so cozy I wanted to take a nap, but those kiddies are noisy.
Called up Brigid and she asked me around and for all her lovely dignity, did you know that woman has the cutest laugh? When her fella came by, I swear she blushed. They seem so happy and well suited.
Zoomed by Jacmac's and she took me for a walk and showed me some fascinating corners of the city. I never knew they were there...she has an eye for the unusual. We had coffee in a NOT Starbucks kind of place where everybody knew her. She's so alert she's great to explore with.
Cruised by Portia's and we had a really intense discussion about the environment and how the global is local too. Discouraging topics but with a brain like hers around, at least you get a grip on what's going on. Wakes me up out of my passivity. She got me out to a pub and Bloopsy zoomed in. She only stayed about 5 minutes but her eyes were bright and she was okay.
Called up Sela and she was home...we hung out in her kitchen and she showed me photos of everyone she loves, plus some things she decorates with. It's cozy. Everything had a story about some time or place that had special meaning for her. I loved hearing it.
Did anybody know Bean's a great dancer? Yes indeed, music in those toes. I tried out a couple steps in her living room when she was trying to teach me but as usual, two left feet. Fun to watch somebody do it right though.
Played Scrabble with Tiffany and BJ and man, they were brutal. I'd gotten pretty smug but they came up with seven-letter words, each one of them got 50 extra points and blew me off the board. What a great time. Tiffany's got a great laugh and BJ plays Scrabble like some people play poker--watch out! I got popcorn butter all over my letter tiles as revenge.
Wanted to go see everybody else too but I'd worn myself out. Came home feeling so mellow I took a two-hour nap and had a great dream. I was having a party and everyone, everyone and their mates if they have mates was here, and we played music (somehow instruments materialized and there was the right one for everyone) and some of us danced like fools and we had wonderful food and wine and it was spring so the doors to the garden were open and (because it was a dream, you know) there were some huge birds, as big as peacocks, but without the screech, outside and they were singing together through the doors. It was like they were singing to us like an intentional bird chorus, and it was the most beautiful weird sort of sound. It was magical, and made everything feel safe and blessed. Just before I woke up all our kids started wandering in and it was like they'd been friends forever, busy and happy in their games, and the older ones were each looking out for a little one. Felt so good to look at that next generation, how lovely, connected and purposeful they were.
