Thank You New Friends
« on: May 09, 2006, 10:48:35 PM »
Last night I was desperate.  It was then that I sought this group and posted.  Within minutes of my post, I had responses that made me feel like I wasn't in this deep dark hole by myself.  As I walked down the hall toward bed, my husband looked up at me and I told him "I now have friends."  I felt a relief come over me.  Not to say that I wasn't still depressed today.... but you all helped a lot.  I feel like I have someone.... even my best friend who is very familiar with Nism and whose father is an N has not been there for me.  So thank you guys for being there for me.  Your advice and encuragement and acceptance is so wonderful.  Sheriff, thanks for the advice about the skin.... the old skin coming off and me being vulnerable and in pain while the new skin grows back.  And also to take a breather from these toxic relationships.... it allmakes sense.  And Bean.... your response brought tears to my eyes.  I need to take you up on that advice.... to hold my inner child close and tell her all the things she never heard or knew - to make her feel loved.  Thank you for that.  And yes, I'd love the book recommendations.

Everyone else... thank you so much.  I feel like I am at the beginning of a brand new road but at least I have the lot of you to consult along the way.

I have so many questions.... I'm sure I will be posting a lot.  Thank you again for your support.

I'm glad you've found a safe place to vent and discuss! The people here have helped me see things so much more clearly... and in a way that diffuses a lot of the emotion of dealing with an N.
Take care and keep posting!

Ladybuggk: I am glad you found some comfort here. I consider this "place" a large part of my healing. I didn't respond on your other thread, although I read it, as I did not have an experience with an N parent, and so many people here did, and can support you with that. I do have kids who have an N for a dad, so when I can I chime in. If nothing else, I hope you learned rather quickly, that you are definately not alone. Blessings.

Ladybuggk,

That warmed my heart.  Reading your story about your statement to your husband, "I now have friends".  You do.  We are here.  I am glad you went to bed a bit lighter than you woke up.
