Hi,
I enjoy reading the Proverbs in the Bible and just wanted to share a few that have helped me a great deal (when I've been willing to heed them

) A good deal of my struggles within relationships have been with angry fools, vis my own avoidance of conflict and tendancy to clam up in the presence of a bully. I used to think: if only I could stand up to this person and respond appropriately, give just the right witty retort, he or she would stop. heh. I've since learned that clamming up isn't such a bad option; in fact, it may be the wisest recourse. These are from the "New Living Translation", by the way.
Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.
Proverbs 12:16 A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.
Proverbs 17:10 A single rebuke does more for a person of understanding than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool.
Proverbs 17:12 It is safer to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than to confront a fool caught in folly.
Proverbs 29:9 If a wise person takes a fool to court, there will be ranting and ridicule but no satisfaction.
Proverbs 19:11 People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrongs.
Proverbs 29:11 A fool gives full vent to anger, but a wise person quietly holds it back.
Proverbs 28:3 A stone is heavy and sand is weighty, but the resentment caused by a fool is heavier than both.
Proverbs 22: 24 Keep away from angry, short-tempered people, 25 or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul.
Proverbs 22:10 Throw out the mocker, and fighting, quarrels, and insults will disappear.
Ecclesiastes 7:9 Don't be quick-tempered, for anger is the friend of fools.
and my all time personal favorite
Proverbs 22:10 Throw out the mocker, and fighting, quarrels, and insults will disappear.
