Hi Laura,
I saw it a few nights ago and thought it was excellent.
I don't know how a person with bipolar would view it...it's not easy.
The euphoria, troughs, are all presented pretty nakedly. Then again,
there's a great deal of human comedy, and absurdity.
It was a fulfilling movie. Wonderful dialogue, memorable characters.
But also it is a very extreme story. (There are same-sex relationships, treated matter-of-factly.)
What made it very fascinating to me, also, was that it's based on a memoir.
The mother, Deirdre Burroughs, is a failed poet. The son, who escaped BPD, is not ill.
If you go to Salon.com and Search for the film, you'll find a very good article about it.
