Strange Pleasures
« on: December 14, 2006, 10:17:09 PM »
Here is another subject I have seen in our posts lately... odd joy we find in actions/things others might not see...

Here are some of mine:

1) Finding a shorter way to do anything. I feel like the brightest person in the universe if I can shorten an unpleasant task...

2) Throwing things away (I often go overboard)... It is hard, yet fulfilling at the same time. Sometimes I want to stick my hand back in the trash and pull thing out, but I don't... and I get over it. But I do get some anxiety... I LOVE cleaning out the fridge and cupboards in the kitchen. Deleting emails goes along with this too I think.

3) Eating vegetables... I feel like I have been "good"

I know I have more... and weirder ones, I am sure. I need to think. But throw some out here...

Here are things I get upset over having to do:

Filling the tank with gas
Going to the doctor or dentist
Washing dishes
Confronting anyone who has upset me (I actually hyperventillate)

Love, Beth

Beth,

I get upset at doing everything on your list!

Re: 1. (finding a shorter way)  I'm too obsessive...Some people can mow their yards, wash their cars, etc twice over the time it takes me. I have to do it just so-so.
Re: 2.  (throwing things away) Very difficult,  I hyperventilate on this one....Emails....nah got a bigger account...
Re: 3. (Vegetables...) Only if there is nothing else

My odd joys.....lets see...

a. Solving obvious computer issues....Your PC's not working?...uh, you might want to plug it in.....can't get online?...uh, you might want to subscribe to an ISP.....

b. Finding a book for a quarter and selling it on Ebay for $50.00
c. Giving someone directions and having them walk away knowing they'll get there w/o a problem.

hugs

my strange pleasures

Ironing I love to Iron clothes weird huh

But the reason is my grandma rose would tell me stories when I was very young as I listened and watched her iron clothes

Every time I iron a shirt for hubby or a skirt for my teenager I can not help but remember these sweet stories

Everyone else I know defiantly does not like ironing clothes

Ahhhhhhh... you guys had the sweet grandmas!!   I have always wished for one of those......my wife's g'parents have always been sweetie pies though.

One of g'mas was usually drunk and died when I was 13. The other one used to play Chinese checkers with me when we made a rare visit.. and never let me win once. One time I complained and she said "That's not how the real world works young man!" and laughed it off. I said to myself - "You old bitter lady...If I was a grandfather I would let my grandson win"

To this day she won't contact me unless I write her a letter. Then she responds to it...It's my turn now...it's been 3 years...I wonder if she's even alive...none of my family will volunteer any information...I have to google everything to see if any family members have died or moved.  N's are so nasty, so fun,  so irritating!!
