So much more to it than simply PMT??
« on: January 12, 2007, 07:43:20 PM »
To every woman here,

Oh my word have a read of this, particularly the three stage explanations...

http://www.mum.org/mystique.htm

I'm not into hugely spiritual stuff, but reading that really made me think.  It describes exactly the stages i personally go through, same for anyone else?
And i've spent so long beating myself up resulting in self destructive behaviour in the last phase, because i've never understood why i've suddenly lost the abillity to do anything i actually did want to do the week before.

If these are such a set part of our lives, doesn't it make so much sense that we are taught to be aware of and utilise these phases instead of spending our lives fighting them?

Aah I know i will sleep better now tonight for reading that.....

Again sorry this is a bit off subject but thought it might be as eye opening for others too..

hi peapod

To each his own, and also there is so much help here.

Something about the title and beginning just threw me off and I stopped reading.

I finished menopause at age 58--yes 58...... that's only 9 years ago..... began my periods at 15....late

So many people knew I began late but by the time i finshed menopause they were all dead! I don't know why I'm saying what I'm saying.........but I said it anyway.

Anyone have an idea???

Hi Pea,

Menopause usually happens, on the average, at 51. Its clinical definition is when you've gone without a period for a full year. But it's preceded and followed by about a decade of subtler hormonal changes, so the symptoms, if you have them, can be around for a long while.

In my case they weren't disabling at all, though I did notice them a lot for a year or two.

You've gone a loooooooooooong time to enjoy your hormones!

hi

Oh and again I have to be different.
No hot flashes, no symptoms except my periods stopped and no hormone replacement meds.
(Maybe that's what I need...hormones)
