recurring nightmare--please help
« on: January 21, 2007, 05:31:56 PM »
I have a recurring nightmare that upsets me terribly. I have my own theory on it.

What would you others say?

Izzy

“I am cleaning the house. It is very dirty and as I begin to make headway, Y is there messing it up behind me. I continue to clean but I never make headway, as it is an ongoing circle with no answer, as Y doesn’t help me; Y continues to have me cleaning up the mess, and I don’t say ‘No', even though I know it is unfair.”

Hiya Izzy:

Ok.  I'll take a crack at it (but I'm just guessing......no expertise here):

They say that when you dream about your house, you're actually dreaming about your thoughts.  So since you're cleaning your house in your dream, maybe what you're actually trying to do is to rid your thoughts of negativity and junk but this Y person keeps messing everything up.  Depending on who Y is....it might be what Y actually did/does to you in life or at least, what it feels like.

In the dream, you don't try to stop Y or fight back, as you put it.  And it is a very unfair situation, which you know.

What about in reality?  Is your mind telling you what to do or just validating what you've already done?  Only you will know.

Hope this helps.  If not, just chalk it up to another of my misinterpretations.

hi isittoolate...
sela interp of dream seems to hit the main points well,,
i would add that astrologically the home house is 4th house cancer
and moon
and the soul's history especially in regards to one's present incarnation...

in regards to allowing y to keep messing up after you clean...
perhaps the topic on
FORGIVENESS that lean nomoretears
orginally posted
might be helpful in terms of how to say no:)

izzy,

it's an allegory for your life, luv.

whoever [or whatever] Y is, they're taking advantage of you in major ways, or sabotaging your progress in equally major ways, and on some deep level part of you knows it.

I don't know if Y is your ex, or a disturbed child, or your mother, or your job, but your subconscious clearly sees a problem here, and your subconscious is trying to get your attention major big time.

Are you able to do 'lucid dreaming'? When you are dreaming, do you know it is a dream, and if it bothers you, can you change it, or make yourself stop dreaming? If you can, the next time this dream occurs, try telling yourself that it is a message, and ask yourself what you can change - in the dream! - to make things improve. Try telling Y to leave, for instance, and showing them out the door. Or: sit down with Y and have a cup of tea!

See what happens... you may be amazed.

Yes Sela,

No misinterpretation, so to speak, on your part.

It is about Thoughts that are not ever-present in my waking hours.
It’s a toxic situation from some time ago that has never been resolved. (My thought re Y)
I must resolve it, as my behaviour in the dream is the same as that in the real event. I don’t say “No”.

And retread:

I will read this post! (topic on FORGIVENESS that leah_ nomoretears
orginally posted)

And Stormchild:

Yes there are many instances whereby Y took advantage of my lack of assertiveness. One in particular is disturbing.

“Lucid Dreaming”? I am not sure I have. There was only one time in the nightmare that I went to the door as Y was going out and insisted Y come back and help me, as all this dirt was not mine! (I didn’t have the nightmare for some time after that, but since I did nothing in real life, it has returned.) I surmise from that particular nightmare about Y, that I in real life ought to insist upon some help with the “dirt in the house”!

very close evaluations all
thank you

Izzy

Lucid Dreaming can be done either by practice or some do this on their own naturally .
It is simply as Storm said being awake while in dream state.Or some part of you being aware that you are dreaming.

People studying dream states believe you can change the whole "dream State " by your own perceptions and positive thought .
This can lead to resolution of the nightmare.

A house in a dream usually represents the dreamer in some way .You can google dream interpretation and see if this is correct.
Dreams are very interesting.

Hope you have sweet dreams

Wow, this topic once again showed me what bright and insightful people we have here. I wasn't able to come up with anything more than frustration at not moving forward (like Sysiphus - hope I spelled that right). I have the same type of dream very often, so it was nice to see the interpretations of it.
Iz, what about keeping a journal by your bedd too and writing down the dream with details. I am betting that although you remember the general dream, there might be some more specific details that could help (what is the clutter comprised of, are there smells, colors, etc.) Just a thought. I also used to try to control my dreams, and you can if you work at it. Try envisioning the dream as you go to sleep and changing the outcome to the one you desire (Y comes over, helps you organize everything, etc). I think if you set the pattern in your mind, you can affect the dream.
Thanks for a really interesting topic.
