Are you a Planner, or do you Improvise?
« on: February 28, 2007, 08:57:35 PM »
Hey all,
This topic seemed rather fun to me... and will no doubt allow some of us to look into another habit... planning vs being spontaneous.

I am spontaneous, but only within a comfortable boundary. Here on our small island, I will go for a crazy drive, just turn and turn until I get back to a highway. Knowing how small the island is, I know that there is no way to become lost. So I am being a bit crazy, but within a boundary. And I would say that sums up my behavior.
My husband is a huge planner. He is planning for our move now without knowing where we're going. It drives me crazy!!! I remember one time, in Rome, he sat down and traced out our route to leave the city on a map. He wanted to make sure we got directly out...well... after the first turn according to his plan, the road went the wrong direction and he had to scrap the whole thing. He was so irked!!! I even waited an hour or two to laugh at him and say "I told you so."

So, where do you fall? What do you think it says about you?????

hi

I don't plan.

I know I go to the Office every Wednesday and I have the rest of the week to myself. I can do what I want when I want, and it is mainly work at home, meals, to bed to read all these good books I borrow from the Library, a movie now and again on TV, a DVD now and again---all my choice without planning.

End of the month is balancing the accounts for work, and I do that in one day, so it is a planned thing that doesn't last long.
If I ought to buy something, I don't plan the day: I go when I feel like it.

If I want to order in a pizza, whatever, there is no special day of the week etc.

I don't know if this is good or bad for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

x
Izzy

Sounds wonderful, Izzy!

I tend to analyze and overanalyze and second guess until I'm SICK of it and then I just do something impulsive. The worst of both worlds.

I can't plan. It's daring the gods when I plan, whenever I do, something goes awry.

I'm one of these people that, if I decide I want to celebrate my birthday this year, that will guarantee that I will have at least three deadlines to meet - ON MY BIRTHDAY. Or, the flu.

Don't laugh: for the last several years I've had deadlines on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, my birthday... last year was the first time in maybe 8 years that I was able to take off TG and Xmas.

All I can realistically manage is 'cope and hope'. At home, at work - it's all the same.

I think I'm both.  When I can't always plan then I improvise!!  I would more like to sway on the Plan side though.
I think my ex was always improvising that is why we we always broke.
