Bones,

What does the P.A.N.D.A. S. acronym stand for?

I've poked around online to see if there are articles linking  childhood ilnesses to  NPD, but have found nothing.  Technology being as it is, it's not often that you find a subject where no information is offered. I guess I'm surprised at that.

There's lots to consider when making judgments about the behaviors of others.  That's what I'm understanding more and more.

Thanks, TT.

I came across P.A.N.D.A.S. when I was working on a research paper on obsessive-compulsive disorders.  P.A.N.D.A.S. stands for "Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections" (Penzel, 2000, p. 397).

Just remembered not my ex was born extremely premature and left at the hospital for an extended period of time.  I know what you mean about constantly going over the abusive behavior, it can drive you crazy.

Hi GAP

Have you researched Reactive Attachment Disorder re your ex?

that's interesting, Bones.
My Dad, who was an anti-N, but quite OCDish in many ways....had diptheria as a child.
And was born "dead". (A nurse spotted the linen cloth over the basket they'd put in the corner wiggling a little bit...they had set him aside to work on his mother, believing him stillborn.)

It makes sense, intuitively, for a high fever to have an impact on the developing brain. So many other things do...like environmental toxins.

Given that OCD may have a connection with strep, (i.e. P.A.N.D.A.), this could also be a possibility.

Bones

What is OCD?  I have a friend whose child has had strep twice this year and they want him tested for learning disorders and they're not even sure what else.  Margo

Thanks, Hops.

Given the neonatal brain, which is still developing, it wouldn't take much to insult the central nervous system.
