I would like to ask if some of you have come across the "interesting people" IP symptom in the N.

The N whom I know very frequently talks about IPs.  IPs are people who are rich, in the media, international businessmen, successful high level criminals, or graduates/professors at Harvard, Yale, etc.  Sometimes they are simply people who have fantastic insights into life.

He sometimes talks about meeting these people, but more frequently about how he deserves to be in their company, and how well he fits with such types.  On the reverse side, there is always the put-down about how I need to be around such types but that I would probably have difficulty in so doing.

Has anyone else noticed this type of behavior?

Hi, Jim.

Mostly, I have noticed the N person in my life talk about "regular" people she meets with high regard, then, sooner or later, those people do something to irritate or "go against" her.

In fact, my first post on this board, just a few days before, was triggered by the latest visit with my mother and her newfound "wonderful friend."  At first, she couldn't stand this woman, and most people can't, but through observing my mother for many years, I had come to realize that she befriends people like herself, and not only that, she is looking for a mother figure.

She will build up these people in the presence of others, but often, they will soon do something worthy of her tearing them down.

I place it in the "ideas of grandeur" pile along with seeking perfection and happiness in others, although she should have learned that no one can bring you true happiness except yourself.
