Favouritism at work
« on: May 25, 2007, 07:26:37 PM »
My boss goes on breaks and lunch every day with a female coworker.  Ok, that's his business, don't bring it back to the office.  But unfortunately that's a bunch of BS.  He does not feel he shows favouritism to others he supervises, but some of us have seen subtle and overt hints that he does.  This particular coworker sits next to me, and she's the center of attention every day....gets REAL old after awhile.   Anyone got any suggestions?  I have already tried to sit down and talk to him about it....he does not get the emotional aspect of it. :?

Unfortunately the only solution I see is if you can go to HIS superior.  We had a manager who showed some favorites-we called her on it.

it's irritating isn't it.

I think it happens everywhere but most people are at least tactful and keep it less obvious!

Suggestions? If he does not understand the irritation or emotional side to it record facts, how you think her treatment differs to yours eg does she get away with lateness or get longer breaks etc.

If it's simply though that you feel slighted or hurt then don't try to make it official is my advice, not unless facts back it up as something unfair or unlawful in the workplace.
