   Izzy.

And you think my sermon was obscure?

Wot's the meaning of the two trees?

I like them!

Personally...and this might come as a shock to some who know my Christian stands...I DO NOT LIKE CHRISTMAS AT ALL...

I CRINGE when I realize it's coming up and the children start up with the "mom, play Joy to the World on your keyboard."  I HATE Christmas Carols with a PASSION!  I do not feel that any of the stuff of this holiday, is a true representation of my Lord, nor is it even celebrated on the day of His birth.

I like the idea of gift-giving, and that is probably my "saving grace" when it comes to this day.  Other than that, I guess I like the pointsettia plants and the food.

I'm just a true SCROOGE when it comes to this one, and, I prefer doing most of the Jewish Celebrations rather than the so-called "Christian" ones.

We could declare an Anti-Holiday Holiday, during which we:

--will have no contact with any biological relative who doesn't make us feel wonderful
--will eat only what occurs to us and nothing that resembles a holiday food
--will sleep in or not, go out or not, exactly as we like
--wear no special clothes
--use no special greetings
--decorate nothing whatsoever (big demerits for decorating!)
--send no mail
--go nowhere we don't love to be
--play no music unless we adore it
--sing no songs unless we make them up

any more?  :)
Hops

--worry about knapkins and knapkins rings, water glasses, table clothes, wine glasses, little forks, big forks, menus, cook times, food prep, child care, fighting cousins, older cousins teaching my children bad/new habits, flowers, arranging flowers, finding vases, candles, candle holders, driving hours to eat a meal then getting in the car to drive 3 more hours to eat a similar meal and end up in a strange bed where I sneeze and the kidi always end up getting sick and swelling or my nose itches off my face bc of pets.  Trying to have conversations that aren't strained and uncomfortable with MIL and SIL's or get cornered by an unhappy family member who's drunk or in trouble or trying to get me on their side or confess something I pretty much already know and just don't want to hear much less pretend it's BIG news and make them feel better about it.  I have children under foot and food to cook and serve and oblivion in sleep to wish for and problems enough of my own.

I do not enjoy Christmas either!! At ALLLLLLL.

When my mother passes away, I'm going to ask my D if she would like to celebrate Xmas with her Dad's family or at all. She has ignored the holiday for about six years, so I'm no longer upset about it. If she says she's doing the same old thing on her own, then...

I am going to hunt up an interesting retreat, trip, something...and GO aWAY.

If I can't afford it at the time, I will be EARLY on the list so I get a space, and plan to volunteer at the hospital.
