Question---
« on: July 07, 2007, 03:38:12 PM »
Hello all

I'm sure this has happened to all of us.

for instance:

you tell someone a joke---they type back that they've heard it before
you email someone a joke--they email back that they have received it before--now this applies to all kinds of Forwards and someone takes the time to return it saying they have read it before.
you send someone a video-- They say, oh yes I've been following this for a few weeks now (but didn't share with you?)

I would likie to hear your opinions on this behaviour.

I personally keep quiet about it, becassue if someone sends it back to me, takes the ttime to type that it's old news, I find it a bit hurtful',  Why not leave it alone?

(Only a small problem in the course of life, but one that affects me just the same

Dear Izzy,
It takes away the 'specialness" of the joke when someone does that.I agree. From now on, I will remember never to say that I heard that joke before-- in 3D-life.
I guess that the larger issue is being respectful of the person and their comments       Love    Ami

Izzy, I have friends that tell me the same stories many times, and I would say that I have never pointed it out. Once in a blue moon, if my husband tells me the same thing a million times, I might mention that he has done so  But I think that is rude unless you are sending the same joke a few days in a row, which I doubt you do...

Thanks Ami and Beth,

I appreciate your comments and the fact  you agree,

This was in respect to the "anything" thread and my going back to it to discover even more about potts the opera singer.

I was so taken with it now that I emailed the link to my daughter, and commented on the other links that followed.

her response
"yeah i stumbled on this story about a week ago.. .becoming a yu tube addict."

My response would have been, "Wow. That is wonderful!", if the roles were reversed, as this guy deserves recognition., but hers had no comment on the guy himself, either.

It would be as we do on here.

I likely feel more hurt that she found it and didn't share it with me (even though I had seen it here) as she knows I like opera/classical as well as Johnny Cash.

as Ami said "respectful".

xx

Hey Izzy... my son is a Johnny Cash fan.  They have lots of old interviews and songs on you tube with him and June.  They even have his last concert.  Have you seen them?

Hey MS,

Who couldn't like Johnny---my Johnny since I was about 15 and he first "came out", mid-fifties.

I went to Toronto to see him, and June etc., in 1968, then the tour moved to London, Ontario and that is when he proposed to her--I almost felt a part of it!

I have 2 of his DVDs and many music CDS and songs dowloaded from the Internet, but No! I have not gone searching Utube-----yet!!

One song", Why Worry?", I played all day one day and even when I turned it off to go to bed I could "actually" hear it as though it was still on the computer playing! it was so real--I've never done that before--must have attuned my ears to hear that for about ½ an hour after.

Thankis
love
Izzy

Izzy.... I usually get the same thing about 4 times and if I say I saw it before I assume you got it from someone who sent it to me so now you know I get the same e mails.  I don't tell you (general) to kill your buzz or hurt your feelings.

Personally, I wish I didn't get all the silly e mails.

I've given orders not the send anything that isn't side splitting funny.

I've gotten orders from people saying the same thing.

I don't think some people have the same appreciation for the circulating e mails of the day.

I wouldn't take offense over things like that, but that's just me.

In the meantime, keep sending folks the things you find very very funny and treat them the way you want them to  treat you.  That's all you can do.  Hopefully, they'll come around.

Why Thank you CB,

I've been feeling a little 'dry' lately, as nothing bad is happening---Ha!

I've been writing my lyrics and music, critiquing others and helping them, on the Music Forum. That is something that keeps me out of trouble, but my muse is off somewhere--no inspirations.

Love
Izzy
