Please take this in the spirit it is meant.

When she passes, go to the funeral.  It is a good way to get some closure going.  Seeing the end will help.

In the Jewish religion, it is proper to take a handful of dirt and throw it on the casket when in the grave.  Try it.  Symbolically, it might help "bury" some issues.
