Dear CB, That is interesting to read; it makes sense that the dynamic you described would be part of most friendships. Thanks for sharing that.

I am not very good at setting boundaries with female friends, and I have had pretty mixed results when I have set them. I think this is why I tend to back off instead of going through the awkward process of trying to resolve a conflict. I don't consider it to be a good habit though:)

Hops and Beth,

I am so excited for you both, being in the market for a pet dog! Good luck with finding your new companions. Animals are such a big part of my life right now; they bring so much joy its indescribable.

X Bella

Ohhhh, Bella, I am so not in the market (tho I would love to be). But it would come down to the dog or the husband if I wanted another one. And I kind of like my guy. He doesn't smell or fart as much as Henry anyways. Especially lately - phew... I guess it's the change in diet or something. He was sick for a few days with a stomach bug too. But he's being annoying today, so I know he is better.
Hopsy, are you actively checking the shelters now or just once in a while????
Love, Beth

Yoicks, it's pure daydream.

When I'm lonely, I sometimes Google about dogs.

I really need to escort my old pooch (and my old mother) to the happy hunting/happy Supply ground and THEN take a few years pet-free!

So it'll truly be years before I'm seriously ready to get a dog.

Consider these fantasies along the lines of a 13-year-old daydreaming about Prom.

:) (Just got a book recommendation for dog lovers...from a friend...Merle's Door. It sounds WONDERFUL).

waggingly,

Hops, I go fo walks in the neighborhood and have to see everyone's dogs, of course!!! A good girlfriend and I were talking recently at how good we have become at identifying the dogs!!! I look on the web and pet every one I find. I just like them a lot. It is funny to me how certain breeds fit your personality.

LOL:) I don't have any pets yet either. We're still renting in the city, sadly. Our dream is to have a bit of land, to fullfill our fantasy of having a menagerie. Right now we feed wild birds each day which is very fullfilling.
