Fuzzy Brained Feelers vs Unthawed Thinkers
« on: September 19, 2007, 10:18:51 PM »

First, it is good to remember that VESMB is a forum for voiceless people.  My reptilian brain tells me that the name VESMB, rats us active participants out.  So given the nature and purpose of the board, shouldn't we be prepared to accept at least the possibility that manifest behaviors here may range anywhere from  'normal' to everything in between, up to, and including psychoses?

Now, let's use some plus or minus percentages here.  Let's say that the general population is split roughly 50% 'feelers' and 50% thinkers.  Then let's say that 65% of thinkers are men and  65% of women are feelers.  Then lets say that the active participants on the board are mainly women...say 99.92%.

It brings you right back to roughly a 65% figure,  meaning that 65% of what is said on the board has been delivered through the psyche of a 'feeling' person, whose decisions are made subjectively based on their personal values and desire for harmony.  The 35% remaining participants are 'thinkers' who look at problems objectively. They use cause/effect and logic to bring about clarity, clearness, lucidity.

That said, 'feelers' will ALWAYS prefer to operate from their subjective self.  'Thinkers' will ALWAYS prefer to work from their objective self.  When broad (pun intended) sweeping brawls break out on the board there will never be resolution unless or until all participants learn to function between the two types (feelers - subjective and /thinkers - objective) with fluidity, i.e., accepting each others differences and recognizing that one type is not superior to the other.  Doing it the brawl way is counter productive.   So whether you're a fuzzy brained 'feeler' toad or an unthawed 'thinker' toad, we all share the same puddle.

I didn't mention that 20 - 30% of the toads are PMSing at the same time!

I don't know what I am. I am so sensitive and I have so many triggers and feelings, its like a minefield. The way I've found to best deal with them is to be logical, positive, and problem solving in attitude. But I'm not sure if that makes me `unfeeling'. Its just a technique I use for dealing with being sensitive.

Does that make any sense?

Hi Bella,

Go here to find out if you're a feeler or a thinker.  In women feelers outnumber men.  In men thinkers outnumber women.  It's a four question test.  Accurate.

Dear TT,
I would be so much more tempted to take that test if my choices were not `unthawed' or `fuzzy brained' lol. They could have worded it more appealingly, like `are you fragile like a rose petal, or `sharp as einstein'? lol

Bella,

Fuzzy feelers vs unthawed thinkers were my terms.  Not to worry.   It is a civilized site.

Wow, TT, that was a very astute post.
It's funny, I am definitely not on the soft side... that I know. I think I was so conditioned in childhood to be stoic that I lost the ability to let my emotions be uncontrolled. That being said, I can cry over a squished lizard. And I feel for both sides of a subject usually, which is hard to accept at times. I may believe one side is more right, but I understand both sides...
Ahhh, what would we do without mud??? I am amazed that he still checks in on us knowing that we might be hormonally volatile :)
I like the squishies... I know that some people need the squishies...
It's funny - it's like the teacher/student relationship. Some teachers pair better with some students. My son had a teacher for 1st and 3rd grade who was absolutely straight-forward. He adored her. One parent pulled her daughter out as she needed a bit of cuddlies... No one was wrong, but she worked great for my family.
Thanks for an intriguing subject.
Love, Beth

I am glad there are lots of kinds!  When I am on the emotional side, it is the objective voice the can bring me back to center!

Hi CH, Beth, Pops, Bella,

Thanks for your humor and comments.

I really like it that  the board  has no clones.  I like it that it resists the cloning effect.

I fall on the thinker side of the coin.  But, I want to be more balanced and bridge the gap between me and feelers by developing  non preferences.  Do you know what I mean?  When interacting with a feeler, I want to enjoy the best that each of us has to give in any given situation for each has his/her own special contribution.

Sounds good, tt... and it makes sense to me... alot
I seem to alternate between feeling and thinking modes alot these days... possibly at least partly hormonal, but also because I've deliberately concentrated on sorting out how I feel about different things.

Today I cried alot, engaging in a hefty touch of that self-sorrow... and that's still a rare enough event that it can be like a floodgate opening.
Not sure how long it'll last, but it's definitely more difficult to get back into thinking mode after that.
So basically I guess I'm useless at the moment. Feels that way.

Love,
Carolyn

Dear Hope,

My evening has just vaporized it seems.  I wanted to write earlier and tell you that I'm sorry you've had a rough day.  But I bet tomorrow will be better.  I don't see anything wrong with having a good cry.  And it sounds like you are putting more and more pieces of the puzzle of life together.  Just know that my prayers are with you.  Hope you see this before you go to bed, otherwise, morning greetings are OK too, eh?

Sincerely,

tt
