Psychological Evaluation???
« on: October 24, 2007, 07:34:37 PM »
Ok so minors council allowed myself and my 6 y/o son to move out of state, but we still have to participate in the Full Custody Evaluation... No problem. But a stipulation of this order is that we both have a full psychological evaluation done. Does that mean if my ex is indeed a narcissist, (like I said he was) will the psychologist be able to diagnose that or at the very least detect the tendencies???

From my understanding.... the test will throw a red flag if he tries to answer all the questions the way he THINKS he should answer them.

I had one professional tell me it was fool proof.... the test couldn't be outsmarted.

I had another one tell me that it could be outsmarted by a very keen intelligent liar who's able to answer appropriately for as long as it takes.

I don't know which one is real but.... maybe you could ask that the Millon test be given also?  I think they'll do the MMPI? as a matter of course.  The thing is to lead the therapist there... not tell them anything.  If you can appear sane and reasonable... they'll be more likely to cooperate.

If they think you're trying to tell them what the answers already are.... it's going to be trouble and they'll buck you.

Good luck, good to hear from you: )

I think that'll depend on whether or not your ex can fool the psychologist, and also how well informed he or she is.  My mom had a psych eval when I called 911 because she was sitting with a gun threatening suicide.  She managed to fool the psychologist, and I was too scared of her to speak up.  I could have had her committed that night, and I didn't have the guts.

my attorney said its like 600 questions and its self correcting... I think it was MMPI....??? but he cant answer a straight question.. the judge asked him how many days a week he went to school?  and he said 8 hours! even minors council said the same thing that he cant answer simple questions!

Great to hear from you too, Lighter!
Thanks 8)

I don't think he'll fair very well on teh MMPI, in that case.  He has to be very clever and cagey to be able to outsmart it... if it can be done at all.

Still.... ask/suggest/guide the psychologist to administer the Millon test as well.... how much more can it cost, considering what you;re already going through?

I think that the answers your N gives... will probably be pretty self explanatory, don't you?

No. I dont think he will do very well on any of it. The county is paying for the evaluation. What is the Millon test? and do you think the custody evaluator will be administering the test or will we see an actual psychologist for that?

From what I was told, only psychologists can administer the test.  I assume the county has them on board?  Maybe different in your State?

The Millon test is a test created by a man named Millon.  You should google it and see if it might apply to your situation and be helpful?  You may not feel you need it.

I'm glad the county's providing some help.... how refreshing: )

Now..... you're a concerned, open minded, mother who wants to protect her child...... not tell everyone what they're dealing with when it comes to dip stick, right?

You want your child to see her father..... but she must be safe.[/i]  Right?

This summer my father was hospitalized and forced to take a battery of tests in a psychiatric wing.  One of his many diagnoses was Personality Disorder NOS.  I was shocked that anyone figured it out.

A couple of years ago I demanded that my mother see a psychologist if she wanted to continue to see my son.  He diagnosed her as having Narcissistic Traits.  That actually caught me completely by surprised. (What planet was I living on?) Maybe I missed it because hers was so mild in comparison with my father.

I'm sharing this with you because I didn't believe anyone would ever really recognize it.  Never in my life when I discussed either of my parents short comings, even with people who knew them well, did anyone ever seem to take my word or else they would minimize the whole thing.

I pray for you that the psychologist doing the evaluation is truly qualified and capable of correctly diagnosing your husband.  I hope all goes according to the best for your children and for your future life. - GS

Lighter-
I absolutely am a concerned mother protecting her child. I am not even going to mention the N word to the psych. But it might be very coincidental that all of the "things that worry me" just happen to be the diagnostic criteria of an N.... Honestly when I read the (I think) 9 diagnostic criteria for an N I was shocked. I thought "did they do this study on him?" He displayed every single behavior EVERYDAY!!! Of course I will put them into my own words, but I will get my point across! And I dont have a problem with my son seeing his father... but 1st he just needs to change evrything about himself! lol....  :D
