Progress Report
« on: November 17, 2007, 08:06:12 PM »
For two Saturdays in a row I have had a man and his crew working in my yard and haulling trash off to the dump.  I no longer look like the Beverly Hillbillies just like someone who needs some grass.  That's a HUGE improvement.  I even bought and planted some pansies.  There was NO reason to even begin to do anything like that for quite some time.

I hired a professional organizer to help me on Friday.  We worked for 6 hours and got my son's room perfectly organized.  I dealt with his baby clothes and baby toys for the first time.  Boy does is look great.  But the biggest thing for me was that I got our breakfast room table CLEARED off.  Now we can eat there without piles of papers, toys and junk.

She's coming back after Thanksgiving.  I may even hire her to help me as a life coach to get my business going.  AND the Best Part ............... my mother is paying for both services.  It is a real gift.  My brother encouraged and insisted that she help me get on my feet.  I am thankful.

I have believed with blind faith that I would get out of the dark, dark hole.  After a long time of believing that I would I have begun to see real movement towards that .  I am indescribably thankful and indescribably hopeful.

That is absolutely wonderful, and generous, GS.

I can well imagine what this improvement means to you.

I could picture it as I read it, but is it not too cold to plant pansies? or are you in the sunny south?

Love
Izzy

GS,

I see it!
What joy!

I can't imagine.

A Professional Organizer would be a goddess to me.
I think I would no longer be agnostic if such a person should enter The Room.

I am overjoyed for you. I remember how it was for you.

I'm sitting here giggling. Pure glee.

Dear GS,
Dr Schultz says that the outside (organization and order) can heal the inside and vice-versa. I am so happy for you that you are healing on the outside AND inside.
It is a joy to see your progress.       Love to You,   Amu

GS, so glad things are going so well, and a professional organizer sounds like a godsend.  :)

I love watching those professional organizers on TV.

Maybe I could finally get my room cleaned up if I had one.

hi GS
I have finished my cleaning, stripped the bed and remade it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,meaning there is a basket of laundry for another day.

Washed the bathroom and kitchen floors and am back at my workstation...double desk and I don't want to look in the drawers all at once.

Love
Izzy

and for changing,

I learned another way to make my bed.

I do the top fitted and top of top sheet, but all the blankets spread etc, are rolled into a 'hot dog' (or a pita wrap) in the middle of the bed. (I am sitting in the middle of the bed again)
Then I sit in my chair at the bottom and reach up to pull the sheets down and secure them, then unroll the bottom half of the hot dog, arrange, the go to the side of the bed and unroill the rest of the hot dog, arrange and smooth, put on pillow cases and Voila.

Never had to put weight on my leg.

And how are things with you--maybe I better get to your thread.

I think I will order in a pizza

Love
Izzy

GS-

What a wonderful thing- an organizer!!!And it couldn't have happened to a more wonderful person!!! Enjoy!!!

Izzy-

I think sleeping on the floor is easier than your bed-making techniques!!You certainly have a grasp upon spatial relationships!!!After my paper is done (and before finals) I will try to follow your instructions- if you don't hear from me after 2 days, send the  Canadian Mounties down here quickly- I will be wrapped up in an inescapable pita/hot dog configuration!!!

Love,

Changing

WOW - Thanks for all the support and encouragement!!!!!!

Yes Izzy, I do live in the sunny (and drought dry) south.  I am quite impressed with your housekeeping and bed making - that is really incredible to me.  As I was setting out my recycling at the end of the block long driveway I was bemoaning being alone and having to do it all by myself.  Next time I have that thought I will remember what you do to make up your bed.  No more complaints here - I really, really admire you Izzy.

Thanks Gabben.  I am always looking for others stories of success.  They are great encouragement to me.

Hops - I want to send you and Organizer.  I found this person in "Natural Awakening" magazine distributed in various cities.  It was really worth it!!!

Ami - I believe it.  That makes perfect sense to me.  How sweet it is to go into my son's room at night and in the morning.

Leah, Lighter, Tayana - thanks for your posts.

Thanks Changing, TearTracks

CB - I love being Strength.  that name change has helped me many times since you first suggested it.

Thanks Shunned.

Thanks all for caring.  It truly makes a difference.  I feel as though the paralysis has been broken and the shame has been crushed.  What I am experiencing now is much like physical therapy - learning to use long or never used emotional muscles.  I have waited and worked so long to get here.  I am just thankful to continue to make progress.  When I could see few strengths one that I claimed was "perseverance" and that has been a good one to have.

Thanks for the encouragement.  Coming from family that only knew how to sabotage encouragement was in short supply and when it was offered it was either false or not genuine - neither of which had any real value.  But the encouragement here does and i am profoundly grateful. - yours - [Gaining] Strength

Dear Gaining Strength,

This above is a great line that helped me to put words to how I have felt recently. I find so much hope and insight on this board.

Thank you,
Lise
